Burnout 3 is a game with a lot of energy because it has both high-speed thrills and crashes that go boom. With the new takedown system and a much better sense of speed, this installment in the exciting racing series takes arcade action to the next level.
Burnout 3 is a great game made by Criterion. It looks great and is fun to play, but that's just the tip of the iceberg. This game is different from other racing games because of its new focus on high-speed, aggressive racing, and damage. It might even be one of the best of its kind.
Takedowns in Arcades
Takedowns are the most damaging part of Burnout 3, as you might guess from the name. Put simply, takedowns let you kill opponents in spectacular ways, usually by pushing them into a wall or oncoming traffic. Players will have to focus not only on racing and drifting but also on keeping an eye out for foes who might try to take them out.
In other EA driving games, like Need for Speed Underground, getting on the nerves of the AI opponents has no effect at all. In Burnout 3, that's not true. If you take out an opponent, they'll become more aggressive and try to take you out in retaliation, making you stand out from the other drivers.
Burnout 3 is bigger, louder, and more aggressive in every way than Burnout 2: Point of Impact. It takes the high-octane recipe that the series is known for and amps it up.
Crash in Every Country
In addition to the better Road Rage and Crash modes, Burnout 3 has a World Tour mode that is a lot like a career mode. It has a lot of things to do and is a lot of fun. With more than 170 events to choose from, you won't run out of things to do in this game for a while. In their jobs, players will visit places all over the world and see some impressive views, if they can see anything other than sparks and car parts.
Even better, the game has a split-screen mode where two people can play at the same time. This couch multiplayer lets you and a friend share the same screen while competing in a variety of high-adrenaline courses.
It's also important to note that this is one of the few PlayStation 2 games that can be played with other people online. Even though the online services are no longer available, it is still an amazing technical feat for Sony's old hardware.
Renderware at its Finest
Since the game was made by Criterion, it's not surprising that it uses the powerful Renderware engine. Burnout 3, on the other hand, has a much better graphics engine, with faster drawing times and a better lighting model.
Burnout 3 has a stable frame rate, which is good because the game has a lot of fast-paced action. No matter how crazy a race gets, the frame rate stays the same the whole time, even if there's a lot of damage on the screen or a car gets completely destroyed.
When you are racing regularly, the game runs at 60 FPS, but when you crash, it changes to 30 FPS. But because of the slow-mo effect, the performance loss is hardly visible, and particle effects can be made to look better.
