What is this, you may ask?
The term is not that complicated, so let's begin at the beginning. Refresh rate is simply the number of times an image is refreshed per second on a display.
If you compare it to the frame rate in films or games, you can get an idea of what I mean. Source content shows only 24 different images per second if a movie is shot at 24 frames per second. Displays with a display rate of 60Hz display 60 frames per second.

There can sometimes be a problem when the frames are rendered faster than the display refreshes.
It is possible to experience "screen tearing" when playing a game that renders 75 frames per second on a 60Hz display.
In this case, the GPU is likely to be caught by the display, since the display accepts GPU input at somewhat regular intervals.
As a result, the screen tears and the motion is jerky and uneven. The frame rate in many games can be capped, but this limits the performance of your PC.
