Non-fungible tokens (NFTs) and cryptocurrencies have been getting a lot of attention lately. Famous people like Jack Dorsey, Elon Musk, and many others are very interested in them. Some good artists and digital creators have also sold their digital artworks, music, and other digital collectibles on different NFT marketplaces. For example, in March 2021, a Canadian artist sold a "virtual home" that he had made himself for almost $500,000 USD.

Music, digital art, AI-generated art, and digital collectibles already sell on NFT marketplaces, which have become a hot market in the Crypto world. However, selling books, especially Sci-Fi books, works of fiction, or any other best-selling self-help book, on these NFT marketplaces hasn't been done yet and needs a good architecture-based platform. So, the idea for "Bookverse" was born: an end-to-end platform where writers can sell their books as non-fungible tokens (NFTs) to readers.

What Bookverse does to fix

When we buy an ebook online, like on Amazon or a similar site, we don't own it like we do with a real book, which we can keep for as long as we want. Yes, we got an ebook from one of these online services, but we will only be able to keep it as long as Amazon or the other service keeps offering it. If Amazon or that other site went bankrupt or stopped offering its services tomorrow, that book would go away with the rest of its platform, but we had already bought it. Right?! We own the property, but here's where the break comes in: we don't have a moral or physical contract with Amazon to provide its services. Even if Amazon wants to keep providing its services, but our government bans them, who should we talk to? From this point of view, Non-fungible tokens (NFTs) have a lot more in common with print books than with digital ones. It won't go away at the whim of a government, group, or outside party. In fact, with NFTs, we don't just own a copy of a book, we own a specific copy within a set of copies. Think of the first, second, and so on editions of the book for which NFTs have been made. Also, when an ebook is sold on Amazon or a similar site, the final cut that goes to the author isn't much compared to how hard they worked. Because of this, we need a solution that's outside the box, and something like Bookverse would be a great way to solve this problem.
