Modes of Don't Starve Together
- Relaxed: A gentler experience with fewer environmental dangers. Survivors won't perish from hunger, extreme temperatures, or darkness, and incoming damage is reduced. You can always resurrect at the Florid Postern.
- Survival: The default cooperative challenge. This mode raises the difficulty: fallen players become Ghosts, and if everyone dies, a 120-second countdown begins. If no one is revived in time, the world resets.
- Endless: A laid-back alternative that doesn't demand teamwork. It plays like Survival, but the world never resets, and Ghosts can resurrect themselves at the spawn portal as many times as they like.
- Wilderness: Players are scattered across random map locations upon spawning. Death sends you back to the character selection screen, letting you respawn elsewhere as a new character—though your map progress resets. No resurrection items (like touchstones) exist, though pig-head set pieces still appear. The world never resets.
